Ball mill ring gear installation: the ring gear generally has a large shape and heavy weight, so it is generally composed of two halves, which is easy to disassemble. The number of teeth is even, the opening is on the tooth groove, and the two halves should be accurately matched. It is common to bolt the ring gear to the cylinder or end cap flange. Some use a row of bolts to secure the end cap, the cylinder flange and the ring gear flange. The three share a row of bolts, which is inconvenient to disassemble when repairing the ball mill ring gear. This structure is suitable for small and medium ball mills. Some use two rows of bolts to fix the end cap and the ring gear separately on the same side of the flange of the cylinder. It increases the size of the ring gear and is suitable for large ball mills.

Ball mill ring gear material selection:  damages of edge-drive ball mill ring gear and pinion mainly due to tooth surface wear and tortuous break. Therefore, the ball mill pinion material is required to have sufficient strength, high wear resistance and good processing performance. At present, the material of the large ring gear of the ball mill is usually selected from ZG270-500 and ZG310-570, but it must be treated by normalizing to reduce the hardness to HB170-200. The pinion gear is made of 35SiMn, zg45# forged, 40Cr and other materials. After quenching and tempering, the hardness of pinion must be higher than that of the ball mill ring gear, it can be HB220-250.
