Ball mill trunnions are generally relatively large steel castings, and some trunnions weigh more than ten tons. Aging treatment should be carried out when machining trunnion blanks, otherwise there will be residual stress concentration. During the operation of the trunnion under the action of cross stress, the stress concentration erupts, which also easily leads to the appearance of cracks.

If the trunnion of segment casting cannot guarantee the quality of welding and post-weld heat treatment, it is easy to produce hardened structure, stress concentration, and micro-cracks.
