What causes the failure of the girth gear ring?

The girth gear has a long working time. Due to the continuous twisting and friction, it is easy to cause serious wear, fracture, and other failures. So what causes the failure?

girth gear

1.Caused by wear of the connecting parts.

The girth gear is connected to the kiln body through a spring plate pin shaft. The girth gear is manufactured in sections and integrated with a pair of screws. After the pins and counter screws are worn out, the girth gear parts will loosen, and the girth gear will sink locally, which will also cause the tooth tip clearance to become smaller and cause vibration.

2.Caused by kiln bending.

Kiln bending vibration usually occurs during cold test runs, and the hand-feel vibration interval is synchronized with the direction of the kiln bending. The kiln can be opened by heating up, and the vibration will be eliminated by itself in a short time.

3.Tooth thickness wear causes vibration.

This should be considered from the reduction of the tooth tip clearance. Obviously, after the tooth thickness is worn out, it causes a "wearing" head clearance. Because this head gap is worn out and has the nature of running-in, a slight change in the center distance of the two gears will cause the tip of the tooth to vibrate. It is difficult to explain the problem with the usual method of measuring the tooth tip clearance caused by tooth thickness wear. The tip clearance may be very large at this time, but the vibration does exist, and the hand feels a continuous and rhythmic vibration.

The method of judgment is to reverse the kiln. After the reversal, if the vibration is eliminated immediately, the judgment can be made. When handling, just move the pinion bearing out a little to increase the center distance.
