Rotary kiln tyre, also known as the riding ring, is used to transfer all gravity of the cylinder (including the gravity of refractory bricks, internal devices and materials, etc.) to the support roller, and enables the cylinder rotate smoothly on the support roller, so the kiln riding ring must have sufficient strength and durability. At the same time, the riding ring is a part that strengthens the radial stiffness of kiln cylinder, so it also should have sufficient rigidity.

Rotary kiln riding ring have the following cross-sectional shapes: 

1. Rotary kiln rectangular riding ring

Its cross section is a solid rectangular shape. The shape is simple, so the quality is easy to guarantee. The general service life is longer than the box-shaped riding ring, and its application is more extensive; however, its rigidity is relatively small, the material utilization is unreasonable, and the heat dissipation conditions are poor.

2. Rotary kiln box-shaped riding ring

Its section is hollow box shape, with good thermal conditions, high rigidity, but materials is hard to be used reasonably. The integrated structure of the riding ring and the cylinder can avoid the "contraction neck temperature stress" between them, and the riding ring can fully exert its reinforcing effect on the kiln, and at the same time, the material of the riding ring can be reasonably used, the manufacturing and installation work can be simplified, and the operation can be facilitated.
