steel casting

There are many classifications of steel castings, and the common one is according to chemical composition and scope of use:

1. According to chemical composition: carbon steel, medium and low alloy steel, and high alloy steel

A. Carbon steel: Iron-carbon alloy, also contains a certain amount of manganese and silicon. Manganese content is generally below 1.0%. Sulfur and phosphorus are harmful elements, should be as little as possible, and other elements as residual elements, such as Cr, Mo, Ni should be to minimize.

B. Medium and low alloy steel: In addition to carbon, to obtain the desired performance, consciously add a certain amount of alloying elements such as Cr, Mo, Ni and other general alloy elements which don’t exceed 8% totally, most of the carbon content is less than 0.3%.

C. High alloy steel: High content of alloying elements, such as stainless steel contains 12% or more of Cr, some stainless steel’s Cr, Ni contents are as high as 50% or more, usually are stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, wear-resistant steel.

2. According to use scope

A: Steel used for general construction machinery: characterized by a better overall mechanical properties and process performance (machining, welding, etc.)

B. Steel used for building industry: with features of good plasticity and welding function.

C. Steel used for pressure vessel : valves, pumps and fittings

Features: better plasticity and toughness, a certain mechanical properties; good process performance.

Performance, especially high solderability, are divided into high temperature and low temperature applications.

D. High temperature and low temperature steel

E. Stainless steel: used for corrosion conditions.
