Factors affecting the service life of slag pots
Factors affecting the service life of slag pots
1. Crack: when cracks appear in the trunnion, the slag pot must be scrapped to avoid safety accidents. While this situation is rare and occurs only because of casting defects.
When cracks appear on the wall, which is common in use, the slag pot can be repaired.
2. Deformation: the deformation of the pot bottom affects the capacity, and the deformation of the trunnion parts seriously affects assembly and leads to scrap.
3. Bottom-Off: Slag corrosion and gravity attack may cause the bottom-off. Generally, it can be repaired, but if seriously, scrap it.
4. Trunnion folding: This kind of defect is rare, often cause by operation accidents and casting defeects.
Crack cause analysis
1. The residual stress of the slag pot can cause cracks after rapid cooling and heating.
2. The cooling speed is too fast during casting cooling
3. The cross section change is too sudden, or the excessive part of the fillet is too small
4. After pouring and cooling, the stress annealing has not been carried out in time.
5. Too many surface or internal defects
