Which detects will be resulted from improper temperature?
Nowadays, production cost is increasing continuously as long with the rising of the raw material price, so that steel casting parts manufacturer take measurements to improve product quality and control production cost through fine management. For medium and small scaled steel casting factories, it is also important to avoid product detect and decrease reject rate, so as to increase profits.
What is the best pouring temperature to avoid detects?
Firstly, over-high temperature will increase reject rate, and cause the expansion of sand mould. When temperature is above 1420℃,reject rate rises, and when temperature is 1460℃, reject rate reaches 50%.
Secondly, over-low pouring temperature will result in the following detects:
1. Manganese sulfide stoma. Manganese sulfide stoma always appears under steel casting part surface with the diameter of 2-6mm. Metallographic study shows that this kind of detect is cause by low pouring temperature and possible high content of Mn and S in molten steel. Proper content of S and Mn (0.5%-0.65%) can effectively avoid manganese sulfide stoma.
2. Stoma cause by gas in sand core. It is usually resulted from poor air-exhaust of sand core. You can drill holes after hardening of sand core to produce enough air hole.
Over-low pouring temperature is always because molten steel stays in uncovered slag pot for a long time. Use heat insulating material and slag pot cover can prevent heat loss.
CHAENG (Great Wall Steel Casting) adopts electric induction furnace to control temperature and realize low reject rate.
