Slag pots (slag ladles) are important containers used to hold high temperature slag during steel smelting. Proper use of slag pots is necessary for safe production and long life of the pots. 

Cautions for use of slag pots:

1. The safety factor of the slag pot trunnion should be not less than 8, and it can be used only after passing the heavy load test with 1.25 times load.

2. For the slag pots in usage, the trunnion should be tested for flaw detection regularly. If the trunnion has internal cracks, obvious deformation, the wear greater than 10% of the diameter, mechanical failure and other damages, the slag pot should be repaired or scrapped.

3. The slag pot should be inspected before use. There should be no water or wet materials in the pot.

4. When lifting the slag pot containing liquid slag, keep a clearance distance of more than 1.5m with neighboring equipment or buildings and structures.

5. The slag pot trunnion and the crane plate hook should be kept lubricated, and the grease should be applied at least once per shift.

6. It is forbidden to hit or beat on the slag pot body and trunnion with heavy hammer or other heavy objects. Each shift should check the online slag pots.

7. Check whether the turning mechanism is deformed, and whether each pin is complete; the workshop organizes a comprehensive inspection of the slag pot body and the trunnion once a month, and asks professionals to do flaw detection on trunnion once a year.
