The rotary kiln carrying roller and tyre are operated under high temperature and heavy load for a long time, and the working environment is relatively bad, generally suffering pitting corrosion and and fatigue damage, which are very difficult to repair.

(1) Pitting and spalling. The rotary kiln tyre is often supported by the carrying roller. The contact between the roller and the tyre is a large stress. This stress is a local high stress. Under the long-term action of the pulsating stress, the carrying roller will produce fatigue pitting. After the pitting is enlarged, a large area of spalling will occur.

(2) Spalling and crushing. The material of the kiln tyre is generally carbon cast steel or 35SiMn, 42CrMnSi and other so on. If the axial hardness of the kiln tyre is uneven and the structure is inconsistent due to the defects of casting, under high load, the crushing, curling and compression will occur on the places where the kiln tyre material is loose structure and low hardness. In addition, due to casting defects, subcutaneous voids, large areas of looseness, sand holes, etc., can also cause spalling and indentation.

(3)Fracture. The radial or axial fracture of the kiln tyre, the entire radial direction is completely broken, the inner arc changes, the site is difficult to repair; the axial crack, not completely cracked, can be repaired.
